    Police Find Body of Female in Creek

    On 12/29/2011 at approximately 12:58 p.m. Swatara Township Police were dispatched to the area just south of the bridge at North Harrisburg Street at Mall Road for a body in the Spring Creek. A passerby noticed the body when walking across the bridge.

    Swatara Township Police did find the body of an unidentified female in the creek. Her body was recovered with the assistance of Swatara Township Fire Company 49 personnel and turned over to the Dauphin County Coroner. An investigation into the cause of death and the woman’s identity is underway. Police Investigators and evidence technicians processed the immediate area for evidence.

    An autopsy has been scheduled for the week of January 1, 2012. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Swatara Township Police Department at 564-2550.

    Police Standoff Ends Safely

    On 12-26-11 at approximately 8:31 a.m. Swatara Township Police responded to 449 Sue Drive, Swatara Township for the report of a domestic dispute involving firearms. Police arrived on scene to find a man armed and barricaded in the house. Police conducted an investigation and determined that the man inside the home identified as Nicholas T. Looby, age 44 of that address had violated several provisions of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code. Attempts by uniformed officers to make contact with Looby and arrest him failed. As a result, the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team was activated and responded to the scene.

    At approximately 10:45 a.m. Looby surrendered to members of the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team and was taken into custody without incident. He is being charged with the following crimes: Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault – Fear of Serious Bodily Injury, Violation of the Uniform Firearm Act – persons not to possess a firearm, and two counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

    He will be arraigned at Dauphin County Night Court later today.

     

    Overnight Business Burglary Suspect Wanted

    On Sunday, December 18th, 2011 at appoximately 11:00 p.m., a yet to be identfied white male forced entry into and burglarized a business on Eisenhower Blvd. in Swatara Township. The suspect was captured in video surveillance and his picture is being released to assist in his identification and apprehension. Click picture for larger view.

    Police Respond to Town Home Burglary

    On December 5th, 2011, at 1:14 p.m., Swatara Township Police were called to 1202 Amber Lane for report of a Burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned that person(s) unknown forced access to the town home during daylight hours while the homeowner was away. Officers then discovered that the residence at 1200 Amber Lane was also burglarized.

    Electronics, jewelry, and other items were removed from both town homes.

    Officers combed the area for evidence and witness statements, and continue to investigate in order to identify the actor(s).
