Cash & Gun Stolen from Vehicle
On July 29, 2012, Swatara Township Police responded to the American Legion at 4700 Derry Street for the report of a theft from a vehicle. The victim called to report that his .380 caliber pistol, wallet, and $1300 in cash were stolen out of his vehicle. He reported that the theft occured at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Video from the parking lot shows a male exit his vehicle and try the doors on a number of cars in the lot. the suspects vehicle is a mid-2000′s Buick Lucerne. It appears to be light colored possibly silver or tan. The suspect appears to be a Hispanic or light complexioned Black male. He is about six feet tall with a mustache, and medium build.

Additional Charges Brought Against Fleeing Suspect
On the afternoon of June 3rd, 2012, Steven Henderson Jr. led Steelton Borough Police on a pursuit after having struck a pedestrian. The pursuit left Steelton Borough, proceeded through Highspire Borough, and entered Middletown Borough. When Henderson reached the intersection of Main Street and Union Street, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into three other vehicles. Henderson was taken into custody at the scene of the crash. He was charged with several offenses and remanded to the Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.
The crash was investigated by the Dauphin County Accident Reconstruction Team; charges were filed by a police officer who is a member of that team and is employed by the Swatara Township Police Department.
One of the vehicles struck by Henderson was a 2008 Harley Davidson, being operated by Mr. Gregg Kisic of Highspire, PA. Mr. Kisic was badly injured as a result of the crash, and was taken to the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for treatment. Unfortunately, Mr. Kisic succumbed to his injuries on June 23rd, and passed away.
As a result of Mr. Kisic’s death, Henderson was arraigned on new charges on July 9th, 2012. He is currently facing the following charges:
- Third degree murder
- Homicide by vehicle
- Homicide by vehicle while DUI
- DUI
- Accidents involving death or personal injury
- Accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed
- Fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer
- Aggravated assault by vehicle
- Simple assault
- Recklessly endangering another person
- Accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property
- Driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked
- Reckless driving
- Duty to give information and render aid
- Registration and certificate of title required
- Traffic control signals
- Required financial responsibility
Henderson was remanded to the Dauphin County Prison, and his bail was amended to “No Bail” due to the seriousness of the charges.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 7th, 2012, before the Honorable MDJ Kenneth A. Lenker.
Kids Participate in Swatara Township Police Bicycle Rodeo
Sponsored by the Swatara Township Police Department, the Bicycle Rodeo was designed to teach and inform children about Bicycle Safety Awareness! Kids attending learned proper signaling and the rules of the road. Helmet Checks, Bike Inspections and an Obstacle Course was also conducted during the Rodeo! All participants were entered to win a New Bicycle and Helmet courtesy of Walmart on Grayson Road! Each particpant also received a Certificate of Completion and coupons for Friendly’s and Ice Cream Heaven!
The department is looking to host another Bike Rodeo in late Spring/Summer of 2013! Keep an eye out for immerging details!
