Shooting Suspect In Custody

DRAKKARI LEE BROOKS turned himself in last evening to State Parole Agents. He was then taken into custody by Swatara Township Police detectives and arraigned before MDJ Raymond Shugars. Bail was set at $200,000. State Parole detainer also issued a parole detainer. He was remanded to Dauphin County Prison.

Investigation by Swatara Township Detectives has determined the shooting suspect to be DRAKKARI LEE BROOKS, of 305 Swatara Street in Steelton, PA. BROOKS is a 25-year-old black male, 5’07″ tall, with a thin build. Swatara Township Police have an active arrest warrant for BROOKS, charging him with Criminal Attempt Homicide and Firearms Violations. The Dauphin County Crisis Response Team was activated on this date to check two possible locations, but BROOKS was not located. His photograph is attached.

On May 4th, 2013, at 1:52 a.m., the Swatara Township Police Department was dispatched to a report of an assault that occurred at Jones Corner Bar located at 428 North Harrisburg Street, Steelton. Upon arrival, officers located a shooting victim in the parking lot. The victim, a 43-year-old Harrisburg man, was able to speak with officers but could not identify the shooter. The victim was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Further investigation revealed that the victim and shooter engaged in some sort of disagreement in the parking lot, which led to the victim being shot. The shooter fled the scene in a silver/gray newer model sedan, possibly a Hyundai Sonata, with the driver’s side mirror missing. The shooter is described as a thin black male in his early 20′s with a beard. Detectives are actively working to identify the shooter. Photos of the shooting suspect are attached to this press release.
We ask that citizens consider the suspect to be armed and dangerous; DO NOT attempt to apprehend him or approach him. If spotted, call the Swatara Township Police Department or 911 immediately.

Swatara Township Police Recover Stolen Firearm and Arrest Violent Felon
On Saturday 23 February 2013 at 10:33 am an alert Swatara Township patrol officer attempted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle with a suspended registration plate. As the officer was attempting to make contact with the driver of the vehicle he fled on foot into the Greenbelt behind the McDonald’s off of Paxton Street. Officers gave chase and apprehended the driver in the wooded area behind the McDonald’s.
The driver was identified as Donald L. Barbour III B/M/25 of 300 block of South 14th Street Harrisburg, PA. Subsequent investigation will result in Barbour being charged with numerous crimes: Former Convict not to Possess a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Receiving Stolen Property, Flight to Avoid Apprehension and numerous Motor Vehicle code offenses.
The firearm recovered was a .380 calibre handgun which was reported stolen to the Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg, PA on 27 November 2012.
Barbour has an extensive criminal history to include drug offenses and crimes of violence. He was lodged in Dauphin County Prison on a Parole Detainer as he is under active supervision with the Dauphin County Adult Probation and Parole Department.
Two Juvenile Robbery Suspects Arrested One Remains at Large

On 10 January 2013 at approximately 7:00 pm Swatara Township Police were dispatched to the area in front of Steelton Highspire High School 260 Reynders Avenue, Swatara Twp.for the report of a robbery with a gun. Officers located the victims at a nearby residence where they went after being robbed. The two victims of the robbery were juveniles age 14 and 15. The victims reported that had been walking up the street when three suspects approached them with one suspect brandishing a rifle. The victims were ordered to empty their pockets at gun point. One of the victims received minor facial injuries under his eye as the suspect with the rifle reportedly struck him under the eye with the barrel of the rifle pointed at him. Two cellular phones were taken form the victims and the three suspects fled the area.
One of the juvenile victims told police he recognized one the robbers and provided Police a first name. An investigation by alert patrol officers led them to the suspects residence at 3655 Chambers Hill Road. Two of the three juvenile suspects were located and positively identified. The third individual remains at large and unidentified.
The two suspects both juveniles age 14 and 15 were charged with the following crimes: Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy. The 14 year old was turned over to Dauphin County Juvenile Probation Authorities and securely detained. The 15 year old was identified as Ean Shamar Cooper-Smith b/m/15 DOB: 3-21-1997 of 3655 Chambers Hill Road Harrisburg, PA 17111 and was direct file charged as an adult. He was arraigned before MDJ Steven Semic at Night Court. He was released to the custody of his mother on $10,000 unsecured bail under the supervision of Pre-trial Services along with several special conditions.

Burglary Suspects Wanted
On January 1, 2013 at 9 p.m Swatara Township Police were dispatched to 1024 Penn Street Steelton, PA 17113, Swatara Township for the report of a burglary. The victim came home to find someone had forcibly entered the home.
An investigation revealed that two television sets, an Ipad and Nexus tablet were missing from the home. Alert officers noted footprints in the snow leading from the burglary to a neighbors house. Through this and other facts gleaned from the investigation a search warrant was obtained for the neighbors house. As a result all the stolen property was recovered from the neighbors house and taken into evidence.
On January 2, 2013 officers obtained arrest warrants for Phillip A. Woods, Jr. b/m/19 of Highspire, Ashley C. Smith b/f/20 of Harrisburg, and Aaron C. Bryant b/m/20 of Harrisburg for Burglary. A 17 year old juvenile was also charged and turned over to Dauphin County Juvenile Probation authorities. All three adults have been charged with the following crimes: Burglary, Theft by Unlawful Taking,Criminal Conspiracy and Corruption of Minors. The 17 year old juvenile was charged with Burglary, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Criminal Conspiracy.

Suspect Wanted in Robbery
On December 4, 2012 at around 8:10 pm an unknown male, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun entered the Jones Corner bar located in Swatara Township and robbed the store. The male was last seen wearing a bright blue Nike zip up hooded sweatshirt, gray sweat pants, a white mask of some kind around his face, blue gloves, and possibly blue shoes. The unknown male pointed his gun at the patrons and the bartender and also appears to have pistol whipped an unknown patron of the bar. The male fled the area prior to police arrival with a small amount of money.
