Chief’s Message
Message from the Chief of Police:
Welcome to the Swatara Township Police Department on the worldwide web. I encourage you to visit our site regularly.
The goal of our web site is to keep you informed of current events in our Township and to educate you about our department and the law enforcement services we provide. Our overriding purpose for providing you this information is to solicit your help to fight crime and keep our community safe.
The mission of the Swatara Township Police Department is to provide professional police services to citizens and visitors of Swatara Township. At all times, the members of the Swatara Township Police Department shall epitomize the core values of our agency: duty, honor, professionalism, integrity, trust, caring, respect and loyalty. We will at all times live up to the Latin motto emblazoned below the Swatara Township Coat of Arms on our shoulder patch which reads: “Servitute Clarior” which translates as Honor Service.
Since being sworn in as Chief of Police on June 8, 2011, we have begun the process of assessing our entire operation to see how we can deliver Police services in the most efficient and professional manner while upholding our core values. In the coming months, I will be meeting with members of the command staff and seeking their input as well as input from our officers as we plan for the future. We welcome community input as we move forward so don’t hesitate to share your ideas with us at the Police Department.
As always, if you have questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me or any member of our Department. We stand ready to assist you.
Yours in Service,
Chief of Police
Jason D. Umberger
