    Bicyclist Injured in Vehicle Crash

    At 6:08 PM on August 30, 2012, Swatara Township Police officers were dispatched to a crash involving a bicyclist and a vehicle in the 2900 block of Paxton Street.  The bicyclist was taken to the Hershey Medical Center for the injuries he sustained.

    The Dauphin County Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to investigate.  The investigation revealed that the bicyclist was crossing over Paxton Street in the middle of the block, and was struck by a westbound vehicle.  The driver of the westbound vehicle remained at the scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.  No arrests were made.

    The bicyclist was identified as a 22-year-old man, possibly from Turkey.  Investigators were unable to determine if he has a local address, and could not locate any family members.  As such, his name is not being released.

    As of August 31, 2012, at 11:53 AM, the bicyclist is still receiving treatment at the Hershey Medical Center.

    Suspect Apprehended Additional Suspect Wanted

    At 6:21 PM on 9-17-2011, Dauphin County Communications received a phone call from a victim who found his stolen vehicle on Paxton Street near the Harrisburg Mall.  The victim observed two black male suspects drive away in the vehicle.  The victim followed his stolen vehicle to the Sheetz on Paxton Street as Swatara Township Police were arriving.  The suspects exited the vehicle while it was still in gear, and then fled on foot.  The stolen vehicle continued to move, but was stopped when it collided with a responding police vehicle. 

     

    Officers from multiple jurisdictions responded to the scene to include the Pennsylvania State Police Helicopter.  One suspect was taken into custody, and was identified as 19-year-old Dominic Mointel Grant-Mitchell, of Berryhill Street, Harrisburg.  He was charged with Theft by receiving stolen property, Flight to avoid apprehension and various other charges.  He was committed to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

     

    The investigation remains open while officers attempt to identify the second occupant of the stolen vehicle.  Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call the Swatara Township Police at 717-564-2550.
