    Police Standoff Ends Safely

    On 12-26-11 at approximately 8:31 a.m. Swatara Township Police responded to 449 Sue Drive, Swatara Township for the report of a domestic dispute involving firearms. Police arrived on scene to find a man armed and barricaded in the house. Police conducted an investigation and determined that the man inside the home identified as Nicholas T. Looby, age 44 of that address had violated several provisions of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code. Attempts by uniformed officers to make contact with Looby and arrest him failed. As a result, the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team was activated and responded to the scene.

    At approximately 10:45 a.m. Looby surrendered to members of the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team and was taken into custody without incident. He is being charged with the following crimes: Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault – Fear of Serious Bodily Injury, Violation of the Uniform Firearm Act – persons not to possess a firearm, and two counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

    He will be arraigned at Dauphin County Night Court later today.
