Swatara Police

On August 27, 2011 at about 0430 Hours Swatara Township Police were dispatched to the 4500 block of Old Paxton Street for a cellular 911 call reporting a sexual assualt.

The victim, a 37-year-old female, reported that she accepted a ride home from a male at the Turkey Hill Convience store at 63rd and Derry Street. During the ride the male drove to a secluded area. He struck the victim several times in the head with an unknown object. The victim struggled the entire time until a tractor-trailor pulled into the area. The suspect then fled the scene and was last seen eastbound on Old Paxton Street. The victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital and later released.

Based on the victim’s statements and information gathered through the investigation, police identified the suspect as Joseph Lee Campbell B/M/26 with a previous addres in the 6700 block of Huntingdon Street, Harrisburg, PA.

Campbell is charged wit: Criminal Attempt Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Sexual Assault, Robbery, Terroristic Threats and Unlawful Restraint. Campbell was arraigned at Dauphin County Night Court Saturday evening, August 27, 2011 and is currently detained at Dauphin County Prison on $500,000 bail.
